Hello love bugs! It is good to make sure you eat before and after your workouts. You need to eat before so you can have the energy to perform the workouts. And it is especially crucial to eat afterwards because your body needs to replenish its depleted stores of glycogen, electrolytes, and fluids. It also needs to repair damaged muscle tissue and build new tissue for a toned, strong body.

B E F O R E:

  • Banana: The body doesn't store potassium for very long, so a banana before working out will help keep your nutrient levels high.
  • Peanut Butter: Peanut butter will help you build lean muscle.
  • Granola Bar: Granola bars usually have carbs, which will give your body energy. Just make sure it has very little fat, proteins and fiber.
  • Dried Fruit: Dried fruits are packed with energy and easily digestible carbs and proteins.
  • Nuts: Nuts are a great source of energy and heart-healthy fats.

A F T E R:

  • Protein Shake: Protein is used for the production of muscles. It is best to drink a protein shake immediately following a workout. It only takes about 30 minutes to reach the muscle after ingestion.
  • Cottage Cheese: Eating cottage cheese after a workout gives your body protein and carbs which helps muscle recovery.
  • Lean Protein: Lean proteins are boiled eggs, chicken, and fish. Being the vegetarian I am I usually stick to eggs. Eggs are a good source of protein. They contain all of the essential amino acids your body requires to digest and absorb proteins.
  • Vegetables: Veggies are also a good source of protein which will help your muscles recover quicker.

These are some good foods to keep your body in tip top shape before and after working out. Is there something I did not list that you like to eat before or after a workout? Let me know in the comment bar below! Also shoutout to my best friend Koloa in Paris! I love you!
